Solar PV market in India
What you should be really looking for is a company that can provide complete integrated and optimized solutions rather than individual components that can often work against each other this affecting the overall system efficiency and its life.
However, solar PV market industry that you refer to, in India works a bit different. You will be hard pressed to find companies that manufacture the complete systems in India albeit panel manufacturers are a plenty. Tata and Reliance have washed their hands off manufacturing in the PV industry for now.
What you should be looking for is a company that has a good technology foundation. Although customers are not brand conscious right now in India, it is a matter of time before the industry matures and the customers begin to recognize good systems from the average. Having associated with a good company would be beneficial in the long run.
As for profitability, I am sure you know that the short answer is Yes! its a great opportunity. With the cost of power ubiquitously increasing solar already makes great economic sense. The market is huge and if you get into the business with a good head start the rewards are enriching. Typically the investment to get into the business and be associated with a good company should not be much because after all you should not be expected to stock the systems.
I wouldn't recommend that you get into any project/business without really deep homework, let alone a complex and nascent Indian industry like Solar and Inverter.
If you are a newbie, I would recommend that you dig into a bit of research and get some grip on the technology and the industry. Although you will find a lot of information on the web, little is available in terms of information specific to India.
Remember, the key to you success in the industry will be the speed at which you can learn and the clarity with which you can talk to potential customers.
