Solar PV certificates, what a mess!
In general, we have seen lots of very nice documentation of module/inverter suppliers complete with all certificates. But we check them at Tuv etc. and what is the surprise (even with well established names) they don't have a certificate but use a certificate of another model.
One question to all professionals: did you ever check the certificates of your suppliers at the certification institute?
Also we get often requests of OEM products. Here the same, they use the certificate of the original product....but the OEM product is produced under different circumstances.
Certification institutes are to blame for all the mess with faked certificates. As f.IT forensic expert I developed a number of highly innovative technologies aimed at identification of faked documents, certificates world-wide.
So subject is not difficult, there is no real interest in the subject, as fuzzy-logics governs the business.
Certification institutes are fully aware, 20-year performance declaration is exactly futures and options trade and risk is not contained.
I am in talks with a number of PV / thermal panels manufacturers on implementation of laser printed 2D codes on each panel, on RFID stickers on panels and more.
As long as certificates don't exist as digitally certified electronic documents, there is no way to identify faked certificates.
Certificates electronically, laser printed on panels change nothing, as each panel must be assigned unique ID number the procedure start to work.
Overall system performance is what really matters under PPA.
I assume, banks, funds didn't established PV solar project investment risk management strategies yet, as solar business is still new and new solar technologies emerge.
So it works as it works and no one knows real system's performance in details.
My solution is system visualization, remote control, Internet access and live charting of key parameters of the system and Mobile PV Station deployment at a planned site of utility-scale solar project to collect real performance data.
I can verify any document, certificate, using forensic procedures, so a risk of faked certificates if contained.
