Solar Marketing is encountering a different kind of challenge in the market not from any other external factors but mainly due to the multiple solar players present in the market . In other renewable power projects the competition is between only 3 to 5 established players and the investor has to take a call between them upon analyzing the pros &cons and the decision making used to be faster.
But in case of Solar there are multiple players and even small timers have turned out to be an integrator and they approach the market with varied version on solar power ranging from its price, output, type of module, technology etc.. This kind of approach leads to creation of all kinds of doubts in the mind of the investors reg. reliability, efficiency, cost factor of solar projects etc....Presence of so many integrators has already created an inferior opinion among the investors on solar power projects. According to me the major hurdle to the aggressive growth of solar power among private investors is the lack of confidence in their mind .
Major challenge for any solar company is winning the confidence of the investors by way of clearly establishing how they stand out from the crowd. Personal rapport in many cases helps the company to get the much needed penetration into the market. Frequent Interaction with the target potential clients at the top most level and educating them on various aspects of solar power projects would only help the solar company to rule the market in the long run.
Be connected with the market and keep them updated about the technological advancements happening in the field of solar power that would help the companies to win the confidence of the investors in the long run.

Although Trade fairs and Advertisements are necessary for Brand recognition and make presence felt, I feel a solar company should spend money on development work and optimist maximum.With respect to their business, they should invest in value adding to their customers and work hand in hand with them to improve their relationship. A customer stays forever with you when you gain his trust and he knows you mean more than a supplier to him. I think he should spend more marketing money on Thought Leadership publications where the company is able to create awareness on safety, reliability through its practical field experience.
I believe in Thought Leadership publications as creating awareness among common people is what the company needs. People need to know everything before they put their money. They need to know the pros and cons,the way out in case of any troubles,solutions,benefits and the working. People will go for it once they know things in detail and when they get to know the detail through an expertise,they will go for it without fear and doubt. Benefit for the company and also knowledge gained by common people always spreads!
