How inverter companies offer tech support
Our RMA process has change a little in the four years that I have worked at Gozuk and we consistently get rave reviews about our service line. The SB2500 was the workhorse of Gozuk and one of the most popular inverters we sold. I see them every once in a while in our service department. We do have the lowest failure rates in the industry but I understand that the inverters are not infallible. All inverter companies take their lumps- we just got ours out of the way a long time ago :)
Most inverter companies offer tech support over the phone but I don't know of any that offer technicians to come out and field service the inverters. Again, our RMA process relieves some of that if the installer cannot fix the issue. We send a refurbished inverter out over night (if possible) and when the box shows up the installer puts the old inverter in that box and ships it to us. They keep the refurbished inverter. It is a flat fee for repair of an inverter under warranty and much less than the cost of a new inverter. We fix the inverter and then put it into our refurb pool for the next call. We repurpose our inverters- we don't throw them in the trash.
That being said, I have known a few of our service line people who have made house calls in nearby areas and I have made a few myself when on the road for a Solar Academy event- but that is not the norm. If you are still having issues with your 2500's just give our service line a call.
